Chief Minister’s Vision Drives Development

During the third phase of Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Purnea, announcing development projects worth ₹581 crore and reviewing the progress of Purnea Airport. Emphasizing swift action, he directed officials to expedite the work. Following his instructions, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) approved the construction of the terminal building, bringing Bihar closer to a new airport.

Cost-Efficient Terminal Construction Approved

The terminal building at Purnea Airport will be constructed at a cost of ₹33.99 crore, which is 23% lower than the previous estimate of ₹44.15 crore. The tender process was completed in two phases, with the final agency selection nearing completion. Construction is set to begin soon.

Modern Amenities to Enhance Passenger Experience

Designed by AAI, Purnea Airport will feature state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate passenger traffic for the next 30 to 40 years. It will include five aerobridges, ensuring enhanced connectivity and convenience.

Interim Terminal on Porta Concept for Early Operations

To start flight operations sooner, an interim terminal will be constructed using the porta concept before the main terminal is completed. AAI has appointed a Deputy General Manager (Engineering) as the project in-charge, with a mandate to complete the work swiftly. The contractor is required to provide a performance guarantee of ₹1.69 crore and a security deposit of ₹88.30 lakh while adhering strictly to labor laws.

Pragati Yatra Fuels Infrastructure Growth

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s review meeting during Pragati Yatra accelerated the airport’s progress, urging officials to resolve any delays promptly.

Enhanced Connectivity for Seemanchal, Kosi, and Beyond

The Purnea Airport Terminal is set to significantly improve air connectivity for the Seemanchal and Kosi regions. It will also establish a direct air link to West Bengal, Jharkhand, and even Nepal, fostering regional economic growth. Once the interim terminal is ready, flight operations will commence, providing immense convenience to local travelers.
