New Delhi, July 2, 2026: India has crossed a significant milestone in its financial‑inclusion journey with the deployment of more than 10,000 MicroATM devices across the country. The expansion is helping transform remote villages and semi‑urban regions into functional banking touchpoints, enabling citizens to access essential financial services without visiting a physical bank branch.
MicroATMs, operated by Business Correspondents (BCs), have emerged as a critical last‑mile infrastructure layer facilitating cash withdrawals, deposits, balance enquiries, mini statements, fund transfers and GreenPIN generation in areas where traditional banking penetration remains limited. The latest deployment reflects a growing push to ensure that geography no longer restricts access to formal financial systems.
According to operational data, MicroATM transactions recorded a 69.75 Lac Transactions, with a Gross Transaction Value (GTV) crossed ₹5,217 crore, underscoring the scale at which these devices are being used by rural and underserved populations.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Lokanath Panda, COO, BLS E‑Services, said: “MicroATMs have become an essential bridge between citizens and the banking ecosystem, especially in regions where formal infrastructure like Bank Branch or high cost devices like ATM is sparse. The widespread deployment demonstrates how technology‑enabled models with high security and low cost with assisted services for citizens can meaningfully expand access and support India’s broader Financial Inclusion goals.”
As digital and assisted‑digital models continue to evolve, MicroATMs are expected to play an increasingly important role in strengthening India’s payments and banking architecture—particularly for communities that remain on the margins of the formal economy.
