Worship of Shiva and Shakti: Guruji Gorakshanath says Maha Shivratri 2024 is highly auspicious

Maha Shivratri 2024 will be celebrated on March 8 to honour the union of Lord Shiva and all Goddess Parvati. Vedic sage Shri Gorakshanath Guruji says on this day Lord Shiva manifested in the form of the Linga (a symbol of the formless, attributeless Brahman), and hence, this day holds special significance. He also mentioned that this year’s Maha Shivratri is super auspicious as it falls on Friday, which signifies the worship of Shiva along with Shakti.

For over two decades, Guruji has organised a massive puja on the day of Maha Shivratri. Sharing details of his plans this year, he said, “The Shri Shiva Parthiveshwar Puja Samiti has been conducting the public worship of Lord Shiva’s Parthiv Shivling on the grand occasion of Mahashivaratri, performed by 1008 couples, for 21 years now. The worship takes place from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the morning and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the evening. In the KalYuga, knowing that people would be devoid of strength, Lord Shiva, with great compassion, manifested the practice of Parthiv Puja.”

“On the day of Shivaratri, Lord Mahadev himself roams around earth with Goddess Shakti and fulfills every wish of those performing the Parthiv Shiv Puja. Whether you are a devotee of any deity or believe in any god, it is essential to perform the Parthiv Puja. Not only does this worship please Lord Shiva, but it also brings favor from your chosen deity,” he added.

He further elaborated, “Every human body contains a divine Jyotirlinga within the Muladhara Chakra, and by surrounding it, the dormant Kundalini energy can be awakened through Parthiv Shiv Puja. The uniqueness of Parthiv Shiv Puja lies in the fact that you can perform this worship for any desire, and it has the potential to fulfill your wishes. Performing Parthiv Shiv Puja also brings the benefits of Vishnu Puja and Devi Puja. It is highly revered by worldly people for acquiring wealth, yogis for attaining yogic powers, ascetics for achieving penance, Vedantists for gaining knowledge, and tantric practitioners for tantric achievements. In the KalYuga, this puja is known to yield results quickly, according to the scriptures.”
