Shamik Abbas: The outer appearance of a character is crucial in setting the tone

Shamik Abbas, who is seen as Arvind Chacha in Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat’s Dahej Daasi, which is produced under their banner Do Dooni 4 Films, feels that the outer appearance of a character is as important as its inner personality.

He said, “As an actor, I believe the outer appearance of a character is crucial in setting the tone and establishing their persona. However, it’s equally important to bring depth and nuance beyond physical appearance.”

While as an actor he brings the characters to life, as Shamik he contributes to his character by immersing himself in the script and the backstory. He added, “Also by developing distinct mannerisms, voice, and body language, and collaborating with directors and fellow actors to create authentic interactions.”

Asked how portraying various characters helps him, he said, “It teaches me to adapt and be versatile, understand diverse perspectives, and develop emotional intelligence.”

Shamik also believes that it’s important for him to draw a line between his real and reel selves. He said, “To maintain a healthy balance, drawing a line between real and reel selves is important, as is setting boundaries, prioritizing personal time, and focusing on mental and physical well-being.”

He also mentioned that for a daily soap to keep running, it is important to sometimes deviate from the original plot. He said, “Adaptations are necessary; writers must balance creative freedom with audience engagement, and the key is seamless integration without compromising the core storyline.”

Asked how his show stands apart despite the competition, he said, “What sets our show apart is the unique storytelling, strong character development, relatable themes, talented ensemble cast and Innovative storytelling. Ultimately, our show’s success lies in striking a balance between creative vision and audience preferences while staying true to its core essence,” he concluded.
