Kolkata, 10th June, 2024: The Sanmarg Foundation organized their 18th edition of the Ram Awatar Gupt Utkrisht Shiksha 2024, a unique award ceremony in India dedicated to recognizing students for their exceptional performance in Hindi. This initiative by the Sanmarg Foundation aims to raise awareness among the youth about the importance of the Hindi language. The event was held at GD Birla Sabhaghar in Kolkata. This year’s ceremony featured a special live session by renowned celebrity astrologer and motivational speaker Jai Madaan, who discussed the journey from education to career, and included a live Arjuna Puraskar competition.

A total of 174 students from various boards (CISCE, CBSE, International Board, and W.B Board) were honored during the ceremony. Fifteen top performers from classes 10 and 12 of the four boards were selected. Awards were also presented to five top schools, three top teachers from different boards, four college toppers, and three students excelling in extracurricular activities in Hindi. This year, three special categories were introduced: the Arjuna Puraskar to celebrate the achievements of outstanding Class 11 students, the Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Puruskar for a teacher who has made unique contributions to the Hindi language, and awards for Hindi medium toppers to promote Hindi medium schools.

Ram Awatar Gupt Utkrisht Shiksha reaches out to 5,000 schools across Bengal and thousands more across the country. Students apply based on their school performance in Hindi, extracurricular activities, and personal initiatives towards the language. Hindi teachers, the foundational pillars of this initiative, were also honored. Additionally, schools were recognized for their performance and initiatives in promoting Hindi. This year, meritorious students who have overcome physical disabilities, mental challenges, and emotional barriers were awarded under the Aparajay awards category.
