Google Play Store Introduces Government App Verification: Safeguarding Users Against Scams

Sometimes it happens that users download a similar app instead of the official app on Google Play Store. After downloading fake apps, there is a fear of getting scammed. In view of this, Google has made the process of downloading official apps related to the government easier. Now government related apps will be marked separately on Play Store.

Google has taken this step keeping in mind the security of the users. Google is trying to protect users from scams and give priority to official apps. This new change has also started becoming visible to Android users. Along with this, new notifications are being shown on the screen to the users about the official apps, which are the apps related to the government.

Government apps will look like this on Play Store

Whenever you open Google Play Store, you will see government apps in a separate badge listing. If you search any app which is related to the government, you will see a separate Government badge in it. After tapping on it, a pop-up will open, on which you will see a line written. Here you will see it written that this app has been verified by Play, which is associated with a government institution. In this way you will be able to differentiate between official and fake apps. The company has said regarding this that this new change has been started on more than 2 thousand apps.

These apps are associated with the governments of many countries including Australia and Canada. In India, this new badge is visible on Digilocker, mAadhaar and other government apps. The company believes that after taking this step, users will be easily saved from scams and fake apps.
