From Adelaide to India: How Rennie Louis Is Building Influence Through Leadership, Cricket and Faith

In an era where careers are often defined by a single profession, Adelaide-based Rennie Louis is proving that impact can be created across multiple fields. A senior leader within Australia’s Department of Defence, a passionate cricket advocate, a Catholic community leader, and an emerging social media personality, Rennie has built a reputation that extends far beyond his professional title.

Over recent months, the Australian content creator has attracted growing international attention following a remarkable social media journey linked to the Indian Premier League (IPL). What began as a family trip to India quickly transformed into an unexpected opportunity to connect with millions of cricket fans across the world.

The trip was originally planned for a deeply personal reason. Rennie travelled to India to surprise his grandmother for her 75th birthday, a milestone celebration that brought together family members from across generations. However, the timing of the visit coincided with the most exciting stage of the IPL season, with his beloved Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) advancing through the playoffs and into the tournament final.

As a lifelong cricket enthusiast and part-time content creator, Rennie began documenting his experiences throughout the tournament. Sharing match reactions, fan experiences, travel moments, and behind-the-scenes insights, he quickly discovered that his content was resonating with audiences on a scale he had never imagined.

“I’ve always loved cricket and content creation, but I never expected the response that came from India,” Rennie said. “The support has been incredible. It’s amazing how a shared passion for cricket can connect people from different countries and cultures.”

Within weeks, several of his videos gained significant traction across social media platforms, resulting in a rapidly growing audience throughout India. His authentic storytelling and genuine passion for RCB helped him establish a strong connection with cricket fans who appreciated his unique perspective as an Australian supporter following the team’s journey.

The sudden growth has positioned Rennie as an emerging voice within the cricket content space, particularly among Indian audiences who have embraced his enthusiasm and positive approach.

Yet long before social media success arrived, cricket had already played a major role in shaping Rennie’s life.

Born in Bangalore, India, and raised in Adelaide after migrating to Australia with his family in 2006, Rennie’s love for cricket began at an early age. Unlike most children, who spent their spare time with toys or video games, Rennie was rarely seen without a cricket bat in his hands.

His talent and dedication eventually led him into South Australia’s competitive cricket system, where he represented the state at junior levels before progressing into district cricket. He played for Port Adelaide Cricket Club within South Australia’s Premier Grade competition and later continued his cricket journey with Ingle Farm Cricket Club.

His abilities as a fast bowler earned him a unique opportunity through the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA), which selected him as a net bowler for visiting international cricket teams.

Over nearly a decade, Rennie has worked with some of the biggest names in world cricket. His role as a net bowler has allowed him to train alongside international stars including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steve Smith, David Warner, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Babar Azam, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, KL Rahul and numerous other elite athletes.

For many cricket fans, the chance to watch these players from the stands would be considered a dream. Rennie was given the opportunity to bowl directly to them during training sessions.

“It was surreal at first,” he recalls. “These were players I had watched on television growing up. To suddenly be sharing the same training environment and learning from them was something I never imagined.”

The experiences taught him lessons that extended far beyond cricket. Observing the preparation, professionalism and mindset of elite athletes helped shape the leadership qualities that would later define his professional career.

Away from the cricket field, Rennie has built an impressive career within one of Australia’s most important government sectors.

Today, he serves as a Director within the Department of Defence Australia, where he contributes to major technology, governance and digital transformation initiatives. His work focuses on enabling secure digital capabilities, modernising infrastructure, and supporting strategic outcomes that strengthen Australia’s future readiness.

Working at the intersection of technology and national security, Rennie believes innovation must always be balanced with responsibility.

“Technology is changing the world at an incredible pace,” he explains. “The challenge is ensuring that innovation serves people, strengthens communities and delivers long-term value while maintaining security and trust.”

His leadership style is centred on collaboration, accountability and empowering others. Colleagues describe him as a leader who focuses not only on delivering outcomes but also on developing people and creating opportunities for future generations.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Rennie has also become a respected figure within Australia’s Catholic community.

A committed Catholic, he has dedicated significant time to community engagement, mentorship and faith-based leadership. One of his most notable achievements came when he became the youngest Catenian President in the world, a distinction that reflected both his leadership capabilities and commitment to service.

The Catenians, an international Catholic fraternity focused on faith, family and friendship, have long played an important role in Rennie’s life. During his leadership journey within the organisation, he worked to strengthen community engagement and encourage younger members to become involved.

His contributions have continued to be recognised across South Australia. Recently, members of the Adelaide Catenian community gathered to celebrate the Annual President’s Mass at St Augustine’s Church in Salisbury, bringing together families and members for worship, fellowship and community celebration.

The Adelaide North Group was also recognised with the prestigious Kevin Brady Award for achieving the highest membership growth across Province 20, which covers South Australia and Western Australia. The achievement highlighted the ongoing strength of the organisation and the dedication of its members to building a vibrant Catholic community.

For Rennie, these accomplishments are deeply meaningful because they align with one of his most important personal goals: helping younger generations discover purpose through faith.

While many know him through cricket or professional leadership, Rennie views faith as the foundation that connects every aspect of his life.

“My faith has guided me through every stage of my journey,” he says. “Whether in leadership, sport, family life or content creation, it provides perspective and reminds me of what truly matters.”

As his influence continues to grow both online and offline, Rennie remains focused on creating positive impact. Through his content, he hopes to inspire young people to pursue excellence, embrace their passions, and remain grounded in strong values.

His story is one of migration, perseverance, opportunity and purpose. From a young boy who dreamed of playing cricket at the highest level to a Defence leader, international cricket net bowler, community advocate and rising content creator, Rennie Louis represents a modern Australian success story shaped by determination, humility and faith.

With a rapidly expanding audience, growing professional influence and a commitment to serving both community and country, Rennie’s journey continues to evolve. What remains constant, however, is his belief that success is not measured solely by personal achievement but by the positive difference one makes in the lives of others.

As new opportunities emerge across sport, leadership and media, Rennie Louis continues to demonstrate that it is possible to remain authentic while pursuing excellence—a lesson that resonates with followers from Adelaide to India and beyond.
