Global Pizza Chain Blaze Set to Fire Up India

A well-known American fast-casual pizza brand is preparing to enter India, in a move that adds another international name to the country’s fast-growing food and restaurant scene.

Blaze Pizza®, built around a build-your-own pizza format and a signature 180-second fire-deck cooking process, is set to launch in India, subject to finalisation of definitive agreements and applicable approvals. The brand’s India entry will be developed by a local team of entrepreneurs with a background in hospitality, events and consumer businesses.

The Blaze Format

Blaze Pizza was founded in California in 2011 on a straightforward idea: put customers in charge of what goes on their pizza, and get it to them fast. Guests choose their base, sauces, cheese and toppings, watch it come together, and see it fired in a high-temperature oven — ready in about three minutes.

The format sits somewhere between quick-service pizza chains and premium artisan pizzerias, offering speed without sacrificing a made-to-order, watch-it-happen experience. It’s a model that helped Blaze grow quickly in the U.S., where the company’s franchise materials cite more than 240 locations across the country and internationally. New leadership took over the global brand in early 2026, with a stated focus on strengthening franchise operations and restaurant performance.

The brand also has an unusual footnote in its history: a major American sports figure was an early investor, helping raise its profile in its first years. That chapter belongs to Blaze’s global story — it has no bearing on the India rollout.

Betting on the Indian Consumer

India’s food market has increasingly welcomed global fast-casual concepts, particularly ones offering fresh, made-to-order meals and room for personalisation. Blaze’s founders in India see an opportunity to adapt that build-your-own format to Indian tastes — think paneer, Indian-style toppings, regional flavours and vegetarian- and Jain-friendly options — while keeping the core proposition of speed and customisation intact.

“This is about giving Indian consumers a genuinely different way to experience pizza —

built around choice, freshness and speed,” said one of the entrepreneurs leading the India launch. “We think the timing and the market are right for this.”

A second India partner added that the plan is to build Blaze into “a serious, long-term fast-casual brand” in the country, rather than a handful of standalone outlets.

Rollout Plans

According to those involved in the India launch, the approach will be phased: an initial opening in major metro markets, followed by flagship stores designed to build brand awareness, before expansion into additional large cities and, eventually, smaller urban markets. A pan-India network is the long-term goal.

Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata are among the metro markets under consideration for early locations, though which cities go first — and when — has not yet been finalised.

Part of a Bigger Trend

Blaze’s arrival fits a broader pattern of global restaurant brands entering India through local entrepreneurial partners, drawn by a young, increasingly experimental consumer base and a market hungry for new dining formats. For Blaze, the pitch to Indian diners is simple: build your own pizza, watch it get fired, and eat it minutes later.

Official confirmation of city launches, store numbers and timelines is expected once agreements between the India partners and Blaze Pizza are finalised.
