Will Feature Phones Make a Comeback? Why Users Are Ditching Smartphones

Smartphones are one of the biggest needs in the present times. Perhaps for some people, it is night, day and life. There are many reasons for this, like in today’s digital age, many tasks can be done sitting at home through smartphones, which is not possible to do with feature phones.

Even though smartphones have become very modern, there is still a section of people who like feature phones only. The craze for feature phones is increasing among people. Why is this so? Let’s try to understand the reason in this article.

Reasons for disillusionment with smartphones?

There are many reasons for disillusionment with smartphones.

Addiction – If someone gets addicted to smartphones, then getting rid of it becomes a big challenge. In such a situation, there are some people who are turning towards feature phones.

Social media – There was a time when phones were used only for making calls, but ever since the phone became ‘smart’, things have changed completely. Nowadays people spend hours on social media. If you want to get rid of social media, then using a feature phone can prove to be a good option.

Why is a feature phone the right option?

Features like gaming, camera and internet are not available in feature phones, due to which much time cannot be spent on them. By using them, screen time is reduced to a great extent. By buying a keypad phone, we can “digitally detox” ourselves.

Meaning, you will not spend time on social media, nor will you always be glued to the phone screen. Having a smartphone with you spends most of our time scrolling, so if you have a feature phone, we will keep it in our pocket after the work is over.

What is ‘digital detox’?

Using a smartphone, tablet or any other device as little as possible or keeping distance from them is called digital detox. In this, there is a fixed time limit for any gadget as to how long you will use that device. Therefore, people who remain glued to the screen for a long time should adopt ‘digital detox’.
