The Government of India is running many schemes to provide economic benefits to every section of the society. This time in the Interim Budget (Interim Budget 2024), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had presented a proposal for allocation of Rs 177.24 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PMSYM).
This scheme was started to provide pension benefits along with social security to old persons in rural areas.
About Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana
This scheme was launched to reduce the challenges faced by workers in the unorganized sector. In this, workers who are above 60 years of age get a pension of Rs 3,000. In this, the amount contributed by the beneficiary is given by the government.
For example, if the beneficiary contributes Rs 100, he also gets Rs 100 from the government. Contribution to this scheme has to be made for 60 years and after 60 years the beneficiary gets a pension of Rs 3,000 every month.
How to apply
- You can apply for the scheme by visiting the portal of Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana.
- For registration you will have to go to the Common Service Center (CSC).
- Here you will have to provide important information like Aadhaar Card, Saving Account or Jan Dhan Account.
- To provide bank information, the applicant has to show passbook, check book or bank statement.
- At the time of opening the account, the applicant also has to provide information about the nominee.
- After giving all this information, the applicant’s account will be opened and the Shram Yogi card will be received.

What is the eligibility of the scheme
- Only laborers working in the unorganized sector will get the benefit of the scheme.
- The monthly income of the worker should not exceed Rs 15,000.
- Bank account should be linked to Aadhar card.
- Are not availing the benefit of any other pension scheme of the Central Government.
- The age of the applicant should not be more than 18 to 40 years.
