How many days does it take for Tatkal passport to be made?
It usually takes 20 to 45 days to get a normal passport made. In comparison, Tatkal passport is made in much less time. But, you have to explain why you want a Tatkal passport. For example, if you have to study, get treatment or participate in any sports event, then you can apply for Tatkal passport.
If your status shows as Granted after the application form is submitted, your passport will be dispatched on the third working day itself. In a normal passport, first there is police verification, then the process progresses. But, in Tatkal Passport, the passport is issued to you in advance, police verification happens later. Usually the entire process of Tatkal passport is completed between 7 to 14.
How to apply for Tatkal Passport?
The government has also created an app for making passports. You can apply for a passport through the mPassport Seva app. At the same time, this is the way to get an instant passport through the official site.
Register on the official site of Passport Seva.
– You will get two options – Fresh and Re-issue. Choose Fresh.
– Select the Tatkal option in the scheme type.
Then download the form and fill it online.
Then make the payment and take a print of the receipt.
– Book an appointment at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra.
Go to the passport center on the appointment date. There your form will be submitted and your documents will also be verified.
How much will it cost to get Tatkal Passport made?
If you get the passport made in the normal way, your work will be done for Rs 1500. But, for Tatkal passport with 36 pages, a charge of Rs 3500 will have to be paid. If you want a 60 page Tatkal passport, it will cost Rs 4000. Children below 8 years of age and senior citizens get 10 percent concession while getting a normal passport made. But, there is no discount on Tatkal passport.
Which documents are required?
If you want to get an instant passport, then keep some documents like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Birth Certificate, Ration Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License and Bank/Post Office Passbook with you. You will need two-three of these documents.
