Shraddha Das opens up about her new OTT role, her unique no-makeup look, and a funny on-set incident
Ultra-talented and glamorous actress Shraddha Das, known for her work across Hindi and South Indian cinema, is making another bold move in the OTT world. After winning hearts with Khakee: The Bihar and Bengal Chapter and Sanam Teri Kasam, Shraddha will next be seen in Rohan Sippy’s upcoming murder mystery series, Search: The Naina Murder Case.
A Powerful New Role in a Political Thriller
Talking about her role, Shraddha shared,
“There are several simultaneous tracks running in the show, and I am part of the political angle, playing a politician’s campaign manager. She’s shrewd and ambitious, but also insecure and vulnerable in some aspects of her life. I loved playing Raksha — she’s layered, strong, and very real.”
She added that working alongside talents like Konkona Sen Sharma, Shiv Pandit, and Dhruv Sehgal made the experience even more enriching.
“The role is integral to the narrative, and I’m grateful I got to work with such an incredible team,” she said.
A ‘No-Kajal’ Look That Became a Running Joke
Shraddha, who has acted in six Indian languages — in films such as Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji and Arya 2 — and even sung for Kanguva, took on a completely different avatar for this project.
Discussing her minimalist look, she revealed,
“Given my character of a political campaign manager, my appearance had to be simple — cotton saris, neatly tied hair, and minimal makeup. The makeup team was clearly instructed to keep everything natural.”
However, Shraddha couldn’t resist adding a personal touch.
“On day one, I secretly applied a little kajal to define my eyes,” she laughed. “But Rohan Sippy sir and our DOP Murzy sir immediately noticed and told the team to make sure I never wore kajal again! I tried it once or twice after that, and they nicknamed me ‘Kajal’ on set, haha.”
She added with a smile,
“I’m actually glad they insisted on that look — it fits the political tone of the show perfectly and looks great on screen.”
High Expectations from Search: The Naina Murder Case
Excited about the project, Shraddha said she hopes the show resonates both critically and commercially.
The series, starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Shiv Pandit, Dhruv Sehgal, and Surya Sharma, is produced by Applause Entertainment and will stream soon on Disney+ Hotstar.
“It’s a gripping story, and I’m proud to be part of it,” Shraddha said in closing.
