Sheena Chohan To Bring To Life a Devilish Evil Avatar in Her Upcoming Supernatural Series Bhayaavah Inspired by Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent

Known for her versatile career spanning films, theatre, and web series, Sheena Chohan has consistently chosen roles that challenge convention. She made her debut opposite megastar Mammootty, establishing herself early on as a performer with depth and screen presence.

After embodying grace and resilience in Sant Tukaram — released across cinemas all over India — and earning praise for her nuanced performance in The Fame Game opposite Madhuri Dixit, Sheena now ventures into a realm that merges dark fantasy with powerful storytelling, blending fantasy, fear, and fierce femininity. Sheena takes on the negative lead in the upcoming supernatural fantasy series Bhayaavah, portraying a never-before-seen avatar inspired by Angelina Jolie’s iconic Maleficent.

In Bhayaavah, Sheena plays a biblical-inspired character — rooted in the genesis of the Bible — who was banished from the Garden of Eden for standing up for equality. Using her beauty and supernatural powers as weapons of freedom, she fights against those who threaten individuality and independence. Her character symbolizes rebellion, strength, and the right to equality — themes Sheena also passionately stands for in real life through her advocacy work.

Inspired by Maleficent’s depth and duality, Sheena’s portrayal dives into the emotional complexity behind darkness — reclaiming power while challenging societal norms.

“Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of Maleficent inspired me because she ignited imagination through her character — she wasn’t just the villain; she was a force of nature with emotion, power, and vulnerability. Similarly, my character isn’t just the devil — she’s defiant, passionate, and deeply human in her emotions. That blend of beauty, danger, and empathy was what I wanted to bring alive on screen, ” shares Sheena.

On her transformation into the supernatural avatar, Sheena reveals: “My character is powerful, surprisingly unpredictable, extremely vibrant, a little wicked, and has a sense of humour — so she’s quite full-on! The moment I put on the horns, the red lipstick, and the curly hair, it all came alive. I feel really lucky I got to play this character — it was so much fun, and I hope the audience loves it too.”

Sharing the news on social media, Sheena posted a behind-the-scenes video from Bhayaavah, captioned:
“She’s not your ordinary villain. She’s BHAYAAVAH. The anatomy of her transformation begins… from supernatural fantasy to a story of mystery, freedom, and power. Here’s a fun BTS sneak peek for you! Are you ready to let your imagination be ignited into the world of psychological horror and fantasy? ”
