Sanya Malhotra Opened Up Like Never Before on the Season Finale of Shame Less With Lilly Singh

With season 3 of her award-winning podcast Shame Less, global entertainer and advocate Lilly Singh set out to prove that the most powerful conversations happen when the pressure to perform is taken completely off the table. Built around the topics people normally whisper about, such as the expectations placed on men and women, what they are supposed to do and be, and what happens when they choose to chart a different path, Shame Less has spent the season bringing those conversations out of the shadows and into the open. And the season finale, featuring acclaimed actor and powerhouse performer Sanya Malhotra, delivered on that promise in full, leaving Lilly, by her own admission, beyond inspired.

Sanya conversed with a clarity about herself that Lilly hadn’t quite encountered before. Not the rehearsed confidence of someone who has learned to present well, but the quieter, more grounded kind that comes from having actually done the work. It was the kind of presence that could have easily been taken at face value, but Lilly leaned in, asked the questions that mattered, and made room for the thinking behind it to come through.

Over the course of the episode, Sanya reflected on what it really means to unlearn the things most women are raised to accept without question, that women are supposed to compete with each other, that being good means constantly sacrificing yourself, that speaking up makes you difficult. She also spoke about the women she chooses to bring to life on screen, and why that choice has never been accidental. To Sanya, the roles she takes on are an extension of the belief that women deserve to be portrayed as whole, complicated, powerful human beings.

That kind of intentionality has become a defining feature of Shame Less With Lilly Singh. Rather than moving through the expected beats of a celebrity interview, the series has carved out a distinct identity as a space where the unspoken gets spoken, where taboo topics around identity, gender, ambition, and the silent rules that govern them are discussed with the honesty they deserve. In its final episode, the show stayed true to exactly that.

The central conversation of the episode found Lilly and Sanya unpacking feminism, the weight of it, and the persistent misconception that it means being against men. Together they examined anger, ambition, and why women are so often expected to soften themselves before they are even allowed to take up space. But what gave the episode its particular warmth was something Sanya said that Lilly hasn’t stopped thinking about since, that standing firmly in your values doesn’t have to make your life smaller. It can actually make it feel more like yours.

Presented by Lilly’s charity, Unicorn Island Fund, the season 3 finale of Shame Less With Lilly Singh brought the series to a close on its own terms. It was honest, unhurried, and entirely itself. Sanya Malhotra’s appearance stood as a reminder that the most quietly radical thing a woman can do is refuse to separate her convictions from her joy. And once again, Lilly Singh proved why she has earned her place as one of the most instinctive interviewers working today, as someone who takes the conversations the world whispers about and makes space for them to finally be heard.
