We are nearly five months away from the launch of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, so can we guess which time of the year it might be? Now it’s time to start talking about the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro… all right, here we go again. The rumors about the iPhone 16 started last year, so we are adding it to the list today.
When Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro, the company revealed that it is ditching the old stainless steel material used in its Pro iPhone lineup and opting for a titanium alternative. For me, titanium has been great. It’s just as protective and supportive for my use cases, and it has solved one of the biggest issues I had with my Pro iPhone: weight. I really feel the difference in weight between my iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro, and I genuinely appreciate this change.
The iPhone 15 Pro, with its titanium material, introduced some new colors to the iPhone lineup, including flagship Natural Titanium, along with Blue Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium. While we expect Apple to stick with titanium for the housing of the iPhone 16 Pro, we hope the company will introduce some new color options. So, what could those new colors be?
Sometimes, reputable Apple leaker Majin Buu feels like they might have an idea. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the leaker said, “Based on the information I’ve received, iPhone 16 Pro’s new colors could be Desert Yellow (Desert Titanium), similar to the gold used on the iPhone 14 Pro but deeper, and Cement Grey (Titanium Grey), a shade of Space Grey used on the iPhone 6.”
Buu seems confident that these new colors are leading the race, stating, “Discussion has also been had about other potential colors, however, they seem less favorable, and I preferred to avoid reporting on them. This information may not be 100% accurate or true, it’s just a rumor.”
When I first heard the term Desert Yellow, an image of mustard popped into my mind, but the render above suggests that Apple is always trying to find a closer approach to popular gold colors, which was a major thing during the iPhone Pro times, made of stainless steel. While Natural Titanium gave us a hint, the above will give those who prefer having a “gold” iPhone the experience they desire.
Besides the new colors, rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro might feature new 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, a new “Capture” button for photographers and videographers, and the inclusion of a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens. It’s also expected to feature the next generation A-series processor and slightly improved battery life. The new chip could also unlock a slew of new AI capabilities, hinting that Apple is working on a serious upgrade for Siri.
For me, until the company keeps it as an option with the iPhone 16 Pro, I’ll stick with Blue Titanium. Apple usually only keeps a few colors across different generations, like black, grey, or silver, so I’m feeling the need to change colors this September. I wouldn’t mind trying out Natural Titanium as I’ve almost pulled the trigger on that color for my iPhone 15 Pro.
