Mumbai – The Rotary Club of North Bombay (RCBN) recently organized a highly successful Mega Medical Camp with a special focus on Breast Cancer Screening at Kamraj Nagar, Dharavi. The event was inaugurated by esteemed Past President, Dr. Rajendra Agarwal, who emphasized the importance of community service and healthcare initiatives.
The medical camp, which was attended by over 287 beneficiaries, offered a range of services including general body check-ups, breast cancer screening, orthopedic consultations, eye examinations, physiotherapy sessions, and more. The camp was conducted by a team of dedicated doctors and paramedical staff from RCBN, including Dr. Anjali Patil, Dr. Sarosh Mehta, and Dr. Jinesh Upadhyay.
Dr. Anjali Patil led the breast cancer screening initiative, while Dr. Sarosh Mehta, an orthopedic surgeon, handled patients with bone-related issues. Dr. Jinesh Upadhyay, an eye surgeon, took charge of eye-related problems. The camp also provided free medicines, Ayurvedic consultations, PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) for lung-related issues, and homeopathy services.
The event was a huge success, with over 25 doctors and paramedical staff participating. The beneficiaries appreciated the comprehensive healthcare services provided, and the camp received an overwhelming response from the local community.
RCBN’s community service initiatives extend beyond this mega medical camp. The club also organizes:
– *Thalassemia Awareness and Check-up Camps* for college students, aiming to educate and screen young adults for this genetic disorder.
– *Dental Check-up Camps* for school children, providing free dental surgery if required, to promote oral health and hygiene among the young.
– *Free Eye Check-ups* in schools, providing free spectacles to students in need, to ensure that vision problems do not hinder their education.
Breast Cancer Awareness programs are a recent initiative by RCBN, highlighting the importance of early detection and screening. Through these initiatives, RCBN demonstrates its commitment to promoting health and well-being in the community.
