New Delhi. When the whole of Bihar is immersed in the glamour of Chhath festival, the state’s cricket team is in a bad shape. The Bihar team, playing Ranji match at home, is playing like a novice in front of Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh has made a mountain of 616 runs in the match being played in Patna. Captain Shubham Sharma played an innings of 240 runs for Madhya Pradesh, while Venkatesh Iyer scored 174 runs.
The match between Bihar and Madhya Pradesh is being played at Moin Ul Haq Stadium. This is the fourth match of both the teams. Both the teams have not been able to win a single match this season. That is why the fans of Bihar were hoping that the host team could perform well against Madhya Pradesh. But at least in the first two days, this did not happen at all.
Madhya Pradesh scored 616 runs in the match by batting 130.2 overs. Its captain Shubham Sharma scored a double century while all-rounder Venkatesh scored 174 runs in 176 balls. These two batsmen shared a 366-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Both Shubham and Venkatesh thrashed the bowlers of Bihar. Shubham scored at a strike rate of 83.04 and Venkatesh Iyer at a strike rate of 98.86.
Sachin scored a double century while giving away runs
Two bowlers from Bihar, Sachin Kumar and Himanshu Singh, gave away a lot of runs. Sachin conceded 211 runs in his spell of 43 overs. He got 4 wickets. Himanshu Singh took 5 wickets for 196 runs. In Group C of Ranji Trophy Elite, Bihar is at the eighth i.e. last position with one point. Madhya Pradesh is at the seventh position with 2 points.
