Jaipur, March 2026: Prof. (Dr.) Jatinder Singh Bhalla, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at NIIMS Medical College & Hospital, was honoured with the prestigious Senior Achievement Award at the All India Ophthalmological Society Conference (AIOC) 2026 held in Jaipur. The recognition celebrates his outstanding contributions to the field of ophthalmology, spanning clinical excellence, academic leadership, and skill development initiatives.
The award was presented by Padma Shri awardee Prof. J.S. Titiyal, acknowledging Dr. Bhalla’s sustained efforts in advancing ophthalmic practice and education in India.
At the national conference, Dr. Bhalla showcased his multifaceted expertise by actively participating in a wide range of roles, including Speaker, Judge, Panelist, Moderator, Instructor, and Co-Instructor. He also served as the Convenor of the Diagnostic Skill Transfer Courses (DSTC), highlighting his commitment to enhancing clinical capabilities and knowledge sharing among ophthalmology professionals.
During AIOC 2026, Dr. Bhalla contributed to several key academic sessions that drew appreciation from delegates and peers alike. His presentations covered critical and complex topics such as innovative approaches to intumescent cataracts, decision-making in laser therapy, the pathophysiology of optic nerve cupping across multiple conditions, precision in biometry, and safe surgical techniques for posterior polar cataracts. These sessions emphasized evidence-based practices, surgical precision, and practical insights into managing challenging ophthalmic cases.
