Mrs. Neelkanti Patekar, wife of renowned actor Mr. Nana Patekar, is all set to make her Hindi film debut with the movie “Chhava,” portraying the role of “Dharau.” A seasoned stage, television, and film actress, her journey in the world of acting began in 1966 as a child artist in plays. She honed her craft alongside stalwarts of Marathi theatre until she married Mr. Nana Patekar in 1978.
Post-marriage, Mrs. Patekar prioritized her family, which led to a pause in her acting career. However, her passion for the arts never waned. Whenever opportunities arose, she delivered outstanding performances. Beyond acting, she showcased her versatility by writing scripts and lyrics in Hindi, Marathi, and English, and directing and producing television shows and plays during the 1980s and 1990s. Her work was often ahead of its time, with over 15 film scripts to her credit across three languages.
Despite receiving offers from renowned directors for lead roles, she chose not to pursue acting full-time, keeping her family commitments at the forefront. She did, however, make a remarkable appearance in the Marathi blockbuster “Aatmavishvaas,” directed by Mr. Sachin Pilgaonkar, and later acted in critically acclaimed short films.
Now, after a significant hiatus, Mrs. Neelkanti Patekar is returning to her first love—acting—bringing her wealth of experience and passion back to the big screen.
