Chennai, February 11, 2026 – Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading public sector bank, celebrated its 90th Foundation Day in Chennai, honoring the legacy of its esteemed founder, Shri M. Ct. M. Chidambaram Chettyar, who established the Bank on this day in 1937.
The celebrations commenced with a ceremonial garlanding of the Founder’s Statue by Managing Director & CEO Shri Ajay Kumar Srivastava, alongside Executive Directors Shri Joydeep Dutta Roy and Shri Dhanaraj T, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Rajeev Kumar, and members of the founder’s family. The event was attended by senior bank executives and all staff members at Central Office.
Commitment to Education, Nutrition & Social Responsibility:
IOB extended substantial support to children from economically challenged communities through nutrition-focused CSR programs. Contribution was made to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, enabling breakfast support for 7,584 students across 43 schools in Chennai. This initiative underscores the Bank’s belief that good nutrition forms the foundation for effective learning and long-term social progress.
IOB distributed Sanitation & Hygiene Kits in five major localities across Chennai, benefitting 4000 girl children and 10000 households. This was done to promote better personal and household hygiene practices. The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Initiative for Social Development and Education Welfare Society Samiti.
Support for Differently Abled Individuals through Swami Vivekanandar Sevalaya & Social Development Trust.
As part of its inclusive outreach, the Bank distributed wheelchairs and tricycles to 23 needy beneficiaries, promoting mobility, independence, and dignity. These interventions reflect IOB’s values of compassion and its dedication to uplifting those with special needs.
