The first Indian budget came before the independence

Very few people will know that the country’s budget was presented even before India’s independence. India’s first budget was presented on February 8, 1869, which was presented by James Wilson. At the same time, the East India Company brought the idea of the Indian budget on April 7, 1860.

When did the budget come in Hindi for the first time

When India got independence, for many years its budget was presented in English only. But in 1955-56 the government changed the rules and after that, it was decided to print the budget in two languages i.e. English as well as Hindi.

Smallest budget of only 800 words

Many times you will feel how long the budget is. Some people even find it boring to listen to it. Usually, the budget is of two hours only. But do you know that the smallest budget was only 800 words? It was introduced in 1977. Then the then Finance Minister HM Patel introduced it.

The shortest budget was presented in 1977, but do you know when the longest budget ever came? India’s longest budget was presented in 2021 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The budget lasted for 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The budget was also leaked once

Many types of security arrangements are made so that the budget does not leak, but do you know that India’s budget has also been leaked? This happened in the year 1950..then a part of the Union Budget was leaked by mistake. The budget papers were printed in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Thereafter the printing process was transferred to the Government Press at Minto Road in New Delhi and then in 1980 to the North Block of the Secretariat building.
