From trippy anthems to Monday mood songs: Revisiting Sachin-Jigar’s Go Goa Gone’s iconic album

Twelve years ago, Sachin-Jigar unleashed a soundtrack that no one saw coming and Go Goa Gone became more than just India’s first zombie comedy. The music album became a vibe, with tracks that balanced humour and heady beats, the album gave us some of the catchiest party anthems Bollywood had heard in a while.

For Sachin-Jigar, the film offered a chance for them to just let loose, break away from formula and just have fun with the music. Blending electronic music, satirical lyrics, and an almost underground vibe, they gave Go Goa Gone a musical identity as unique as its plot.

‘Babaji Ki Booti’ a trippy ode to mind-bending nights, or be it ‘Slowly Slowly,’ which still finds its way into beach playlists and house parties. ‘Khoon Choos Le’ became a Monday morning mood, and ‘Khushamdeed’ brought in a touch of soul amid all the madness happening in the film.

Talking about the experience, they shared, “Go Goa Gone wasn’t just a film — it was a vibe, a genre-defying trip that let us experiment fearlessly with sound. From trippy tunes to zombie grooves, it gave us the freedom to go wild musically — and audiences vibed with it! Even today, hearing people sing along to ‘Babaji Ki Booti’ or ‘Khoon Choos Le’ reminds us why we love what we do.”

Directed by Raj & DK and starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, and Vir Das, the film has gone on to earn cult status. But the music? That carved out its own little legacy. Even now, fans go back to the album for a hit of nostalgia, some laughs, and that unmistakable Goa vibe.
