Dr. Jaspinder Narula Honoured with Padma Shri: A Star-Studded Musical Celebration

Renowned singer Dr. Jaspinder Narula has been honored with the prestigious Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in recognition of her five decades of remarkable contribution to Indian music. Known for her powerful and soulful vocals in Bollywood classics like Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha and Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare, Dr. Jaspinder Narula, accompanied by her husband Pramod Kaul, expressed immense joy upon receiving the accolade, stating, “I am feeling ten feet tall today.”

To commemorate this extraordinary achievement, a grand celebration unfolded, bringing together luminaries from the music and film industries. The evening saw the presence of eminent lyricist Javed Akhtar, music composer Anu Malik, singer Suresh Wadkar with wife Padma Wadkar, noted film writer & director Rumi Jaffery who extended their heartfelt congratulations. Also attending were Hon. Minister of Transport Pratap Sarnaik, Sanjay Tondon — Founder and MD, ISAMRA, Mukesh Rishi, Dr. (Hon) Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, Chandan Das, Ghanshyam Vaswani, Saurabh Daftary, Mukesh Tyagi, Ruhan and Neerja Kapoor among other dignitaries, and her classmates from school and her friends, paying tribute to Narula’s illustrious career and unwavering dedication to the world of music.

During the event which was hosted by Manjari & Ashok Kacker, Dr. Narula dedicated her award to her late parents, expressing gratitude for their pivotal role in shaping her musical journey. Reflecting on her upbringing in East Delhi, she fondly remembered her father, Sardar Kesar Narula, a revered figure in Punjabi folk music, as her first mentor. “Music practice was a constant in our Jheel house, and the musical waves influenced me deeply,” she reminisced.

The evening was a musical extravaganza, featuring soulful performances, moving speeches, and an outpouring of admiration from her peers and admirers. The industry came together as one, celebrating the artistry, resilience, and unparalleled talent of Dr. Jaspinder Narula.

As the night drew to a close, Dr. Jaspinder Narula expressed her heartfelt gratitude, vowing to continue her artistic journey with renewed passion and dedication to preserving India’s rich musical heritage.
