DigiYatra Launch: There is good news for air travelers. The Ministry of Civil Aviation officially started the Digi Yatra app on 1 December. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched this app on Thursday. First of all, it is going to start in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi. Its second phase will start in March 2023. In this phase, Digi Yatra will start from Gaya, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune. Similarly, in the third phase, it will be implemented across the country. The purpose of this app is to provide convenience to passengers while traveling and make the process paperless.

What is DIGI Yatra
Digi Yatra is a decentralized mobile wallet-based identity platform, which is cost-effective and also takes care of issues related to privacy and data protection. Under this project, Digi Yatra Foundation (DYF) will be a pan India unit and custodian of the passenger ID validation process. DYF has been set up in 2019 as a joint venture company under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, with the Airports Authority of India holding 26 percent shares, while the rest 74 percent of the shares will be owned by private operators of airports in Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kochi.
How to take advantage of the Digi Yatra app
- Must download DigiYatra app.
- Authentication from Aadhaar after filling in all the information.
- This process is one-time only and is OTP based.
- After this, whenever you travel, you just have to upload your ticket on the App after web check-in.
- After coming to the airport, you have to put your app on the scanner and get your face scanned and entry will be done.
- In the second phase, just Face Scan for security. Then even at the time of direct boarding, only a Face Scan will be done.
