Hyderabad, 22 January 2026: Chinmaya Mission will celebrate its Amrit Mahotsav – marking 75 years of spiritual, educational, and social-service activities – with a special two-day programme in Hyderabad on 24 and 25 January 2026 at NTR Stadium, Hyderabad. The celebrations will bring together devotees, students, youth, and the general public to honour the life and vision of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda and the global work of Chinmaya Mission.
Swami Chinmayananda (1916–1993), a visionary spiritual master and founder of Chinmaya Mission, dedicated his life to bringing the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads to the common person. A former journalist who turned to deep study of Vedanta in the Himalayas, he began his first Gita jnana yajna in 1951 and went on to address packed audiences across India and abroad. Through his in-depth knowledge, clarity, insight, humour, and compassion, he inspired millions to embrace success with peace and live lives of courage, values, and service to the nation.
Chinmaya Mission is today a global movement with 330+ centres in 32 countries, presenting the timeless wisdom of Advaita Vedanta in a practical, contemporary manner. Its activities span jnana yajnas, study groups, Balavihar for children, Chinmaya Yuva Kendra for youth, satsangs for adults, and a wide range of institutions in education, rural development, healthcare, and culture. Guided by the motto “To give maximum happiness to maximum people for maximum time,” the Mission works to guide all of us towards inner transformation, collective well-being and nation-building.
Swami Swaroopananda is the present Global Head of Chinmaya Mission and a direct disciple in the lineage of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. A dynamic teacher of Vedanta, he is known for his clear, practical, and insightful explanation of scriptural wisdom, making it relevant for contemporary life across age groups and cultures. Having guided numerous retreats, youth camps, and management programmes worldwide, Swami Swaroopananda combines deep contemplative understanding with a compassionate, forward-looking vision. Under his leadership, Chinmaya Mission is expanding its reach in the fields of value-based education, global youth engagement, and impactful social-service initiatives.
Chinmaya Mission Hyderabad has, for several decades, been a vibrant hub of spiritual learning and cultural revival in the twin cities, Chinmaya Mission, Greater Hyderabad, President Mr Harish Kumar told reporters today. He added Chinmaya Mission conducts regular classes on the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads, bhajans, satsangs, and retreats that make Vedanta relevant to modern life. Through Balavihar, youth activities, family programmes, and outreach in schools and institutions, the centre has been quietly shaping values, character, and community spirit among thousands of children, youth, and adults across Hyderabad.
Addressing press conference on Wednesday, Chinmaya Mission, Swami Incharge, Swami Sarveshananda said, “As part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in Hyderabad, 24th January will feature the inauguration of thematic stalls on Chinmaya Mission’s activities and a unique VR journey into the life and vision of Swami Chinmayananda. On 25th January, the focus will be a powerful collective experience with mass chanting of the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, musical renditions, and large-scale participation of youth and school children.”
He added “When we chant in unison the vibrations impact beyond the group and inspire and benefit the entire society. A special highlight will be Gita chanting by visually impaired participants, reflecting the inclusive ethos of the Mission. The event will also witness the unveiling of “Gita Panchamrit” – Envisioned by Pujya Swami Tejomayanandaji – capturing the essence of entire Bhagavad Gitain 5 essential verses which we must all learn, spread and “live by”.
