Rahman visited Sathya Sai Grama, home to the One World One Family Mission led by global humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Madhusudan Sai. The visit turned into an extraordinary evening of music, as the acclaimed Sai Symphony Orchestra delivered a powerful live performance in Rahman’s honour.
India’s Largest Homegrown Orchestra Takes Center Stage
The Sai Symphony Orchestra, established in 2014 and comprising 170+ students from rural and underserved communities, captivated the audience with its rich, genre-spanning repertoire. Guided by Mr. Dimitris Lambrianos, a Greek-American multi-instrumentalist and music educator, the orchestra performed pieces including:
-
Beethoven’s 5th Symphony
-
Pirates of the Caribbean theme
-
Mission Impossible theme
-
Other classical and contemporary masterpieces
Each performance highlighted the exceptional talent, discipline, and potential of young musicians nurtured under the One World One Family Mission.
A. R. Rahman Applauds Musical Excellence and Vision
Deeply moved by the performance, A. R. Rahman praised the orchestra as “one of the most vibrant youth ensembles” he has witnessed. He commended the Mission for providing students from rural India access to world-class instruments, structured music education, and international-level platforms.
“This is a true human manifestation. What you are doing here is powerful, beautiful, and deeply impactful,” Rahman remarked.
Sri Madhusudan Sai Emphasizes the Power of Collaboration
In his address, Sri Madhusudan Sai acknowledged Rahman’s ongoing work in nurturing music among underserved communities through his foundation. He expressed optimism about future collaboration between their initiatives.
“Just as Rahman is empowering young musicians through his foundation, we are creating opportunities for rural children to pursue excellence in music. Together, we can build something transformative,” he shared.
A Shared Commitment to Music for Humanity
The evening concluded with a warm felicitation of A. R. Rahman, as both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to using music as a bridge—to uplift communities, unite hearts, and inspire humanity. The event stood as a profound example of how art, education, and service can come together to create lasting impact.
