On 16 May 1995, Govind was born in Delhi into a humble family. His father, Kanhaiya Singh, had migrated from Bihar to Delhi in search of better opportunities. He worked as a machine operator in a factory, while his mother, Meera Devi, dedicated herself to caring for the family and managing their home.
Life was not easy. His father’s modest income was just enough to meet the family’s basic needs, and every rupee had to be spent carefully. Despite financial difficulties, Govind’s parents always encouraged him to study, work hard, and dream of a better future.
Govind began his education at a nearby government school. In his early years, he was an average student and often struggled to compete with his classmates. However, he possessed something more powerful than natural brilliance—the determination to improve himself.
As he grew older, Govind understood that success is not always achieved by the most talented person. It often belongs to those who are willing to work hard, remain patient, learn from failure, and never give up.
He began taking his studies seriously. He worked on his weaknesses, studied with greater dedication, and refused to let his past define his future. His consistent efforts eventually paid off when he successfully cleared a government recruitment examination and joined the Indian Railways.
For someone who had grown up with limited financial resources and studied in a government school, this was a significant achievement. Through dedication and perseverance, Govind eventually rose to the position of Office Superintendent in the Indian Railways.
But his journey did not stop there.
From Railway Office to the Mountains
Govind developed a passion for cycling and adventure and decided to take on one of the most challenging cycling journeys of his life—the Manali-to-Ladakh cycling expedition.
The expedition was conducted by Commando Training School, under the guidance and mentorship of Mr. Manish Jha. Govind began the journey on 8 August 2026.
The mountains tested him at every stage. Steep climbs, freezing winds, exhausting roads, high altitude, and unpredictable conditions demanded tremendous physical and mental strength. Every kilometre required patience, courage, stamina, and determination.
There were moments when fatigue could have forced him to stop. But Govind remembered the lesson he had learned throughout his life: keep moving forward.
Day after day, he continued pedalling through the challenging mountain terrain.
Finally, on 14 August 2026, after six days of relentless effort, determination, and endurance, Govind successfully reached Ladakh.
He had accomplished his goal.
But this expedition was more than a cycling achievement. It reflected his entire journey in life.
The boy who once struggled academically went on to secure a respected position in the Indian Railways. The young man who grew up in a financially struggling family challenged himself on some of the toughest mountain roads in the country.
Govind’s story proves that our circumstances may decide where we begin, but they do not have to decide where we finish.
His journey teaches us the value of hard work, discipline, patience, courage, and perseverance.
From a humble beginning in Delhi to the heights of Ladakh, Govind kept moving forward—one page, one examination, and one pedal at a time.
Dream big. Work hard. Keep moving forward. Never let your circumstances decide your future.
Govind’s journey is not merely a story of success—it is a story of courage, determination, perseverance, and never giving up.
