IndieSemiC Private Limited, a Gujarat-based fabless semiconductor startup specializing in indigenous chip design, has announced a technology collaboration with US-based semiconductor supplier Semtech Corporation. The partnership focuses on integrating Semtech’s globally adopted LoRa® technology into IndieSemiC’s upcoming Sabarmati-1 System-in-Package (SiP) platform.
Formalized in the presence of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) CEO Amitesh Sinha, the collaboration aims to deliver what is envisioned as the world’s first 64-bit LoRa-enabled SiP.
The Sabarmati-1 Architecture: Bridging Compute and Connectivity
The Sabarmati family is being developed as a 64-bit, general-purpose SiP platform built on the open-standard VEGA RISC-V architecture. By integrating Semtech’s LoRa technology at the system-in-package level, the design combines advanced 64-bit processing power with ultra-low-power, long-range wireless connectivity.
This integration is highly strategic. Combining the flexibility of RISC-V with LoRa targets a massive global market where devices require moderate processing capabilities but demand extended battery life and reliable, long-range communication.
