Mumbai (Anil Bedag): The “Made in India Swadeshi Runway Season 8,” held on March 28 and 29 at the Uttar Bharatiya Sangh in Bandra, brought together fashion and social awareness in a spectacular showcase. With over 500 models walking the ramp, the event emerged as a powerful platform for young talent, creativity, and the spirit of ‘Swadeshi.’
Organized in collaboration with the IMFL (Institute of Modeling, Fashion and Lifestyle), the show aimed to promote homegrown talent and provide opportunities to aspiring models, designers, and artists from across the country. Runway Director Deepti Vora and her team executed the event seamlessly, supported by around 200 makeup artists, 20 fashion designers, and 50 stylists who contributed to its grand success.
The concept of the show was envisioned by Sonia Meyers, who received support from government bodies, Bollywood, and the fashion industry. She is also the founder of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Bharat Puraskar, launched in 2017. The presence of Dr. Kalam’s family members added a special touch to the occasion.
Beyond fashion, the event also highlighted important social causes, including promoting police helplines and empowering the transgender community. Supported by the Indian Army and police, the show stood out not just as a fashion event, but as a meaningful initiative blending style with social impact.
