Hyderabad: Minister for Irrigation, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, on Friday emphasized the decisive role of builders and contractors as “true partners in development”. Addressing the Builders’ Day Celebrations and the 2-day, Fourth National Managing Committee and General Council Meeting 2026 of the Builders Association of India (BAI) held at hyderabad. The Minister highlighted the association’s eight-decade legacy, noting its role as a bridge between builders and the government.
“For more than eight decades, BAI has been representing the interests of work contractors and has been playing a vital role contributing immensely to nation-building,” he said, underscoring the organization’s enduring impact on India’s infrastructure landscape.
The minister emphasised the significance of infrastructure, describing it as the “backbone of economic growth.” He elaborated that roads, bridges, irrigation projects, housing, and public infrastructure are not just physical constructs but “symbols of progress and public service.”
The Minister acknowledged the persistent challenges faced by contractors, including delays in payments, cost escalations, and procedural hurdles. Drawing from his own portfolio in irrigation, he assured them of the Telangana Government’s unwavering commitment to resolution.
“As Minister for Irrigation, I am fully aware of the challenges faced by contractors—be it timely payments, escalation issues, or procedural delays. I assure you that the Government of Telangana is committed to resolving genuine issues through dialogue, coordination, and cooperation with representative bodies like BAI,” he pledged
He also commended the organizing committee, advisory board, and BAI’s leadership, including K Lakshma Reddy, former MLA, S. N. Reddy (past National President), D. V. N. Reddy (National Vice President), and S. Krishna Rao (Organizing Chairman). He also hailed the success of the BIA under leaders like its National President, Rajendra Singh Kambhoj.
Looking ahead, Minister Reddy expressed optimism about the outcomes of the National Managing Committee and General Council deliberations. “I am confident that the deliberations of this National Managing Committee and General Council Meeting will yield constructive outcomes for the growth of the construction industry, ” he said.
Builders Association of India National President Rajendra Singh Kamboh, along with IFAWPC Board Member, S. N. Reddy, BAI National Vice President D. V. N. Reddy, stated that representatives from across the country participated in the programme hosted by the BAI Nalgonda Centre. Organising Committee Chairman S. Krishna Rao and former BAI Chairman B. Seenaiah among others, were also present.
