Noida International University Concludes Vibrant Event URJA 2025

Noida International University (NIU) concluded URJA 2025, its largest-ever intra-school sports tournament, after three days of high-intensity competition that brought together more than 1,000 student-athletes from 13 schools. The event emerged as one of the most spirited and impactful showcases of sportsmanship, teamwork, and campus unity in NIU’s history.

The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) clinched the Overall Championship title, while the School of Sciences (SOS) secured the Runner-Up position. Several schools delivered impressive performances, with NIIMS excelling in table tennis and basketball, SOAHS dominating athletics and tug of war, and SET performing strongly in chess, volleyball, and multiple team events.

These achievements reflected the rich diversity of talent and the competitive strength present across NIU’s academic schools.

URJA 2025 featured an expansive lineup of sports, including cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, athletics, chess, table tennis, and tug of war. The events were held across NIU’s well-equipped sports grounds, where the sheer volume of participation and simultaneous matches created a dynamic, festival-like atmosphere throughout the campus.

The tournament opened with an enthusiastic inauguration ceremony graced by Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Tanya Singh, Dean Academics;  Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Wani, Dean of Quality Assurance and Accreditations, and Lt Pratima Pandey, Director of Sports & Dean of Student Welfare. Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Vice-Chancellor, in her inaugural address said, “URJA is more than a competition—it is a platform that shapes character, encourages resilience, and builds future-ready leaders. NIU believes that sports strengthen both the mind and the spirit.”

A vibrant fusion dance by Udgam (the NSS & NCC cultural team) and the ceremonial torch relay added to the inspiring commencement, symbolizing unity and the spirit of fair play.

NIU’s students demonstrated strategic thinking, discipline, and sportsmanship in every match. The enthusiasm, paired with rigorous preparation and healthy competition, underscored the importance of sports as a foundation for holistic student development.

Lt Pratima Pandey, Director of Sports & Dean of Student Welfare, said, “URJA 2025 reflects NIU’s culture of passion, discipline, and student-first values. The energy and participation we witnessed will continue to inspire a stronger sports ecosystem in our university.” Special appreciation was extended to sports coordinators, mentors, the Sports Council, NSS, and the dedicated volunteers whose efforts ensured a seamless and successful tournament.

Registrar, Dr. Mukesh Parashar, and other academic leaders applauded the students for their commitment and exemplary conduct. Reflecting on the event’s success. The event concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony hosted by Sudanshu and Ojashwani, where winners, runners-up, and key contributors were felicitated.

URJA 2025 proved highly beneficial for the NIU community. It helped build leadership and character, allowing students to develop resilience, decision-making skills, and emotional strength under competitive pressure. The tournament boosted teamwork, fostered collaboration, and strengthened peer bonding across disciplines. It enhanced both physical and mental well-being by promoting fitness, stress relief, and emotional balance. The event also enriched campus culture by fostering pride, unity, and a sense of belonging. Many emerging athletes were identified as potential representatives for state and national-level competitions. Moreover, students involved in organizing and volunteering gained practical experience in event management, logistics, and coordination. Above all, the tournament aligned with NIU’s vision of holistic education by nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, physically, and emotionally.
