Rozlyn Khan: The work of an actor is to entertain, not run a country

Actress Rozlyn Khan took to social media to address the ongoing trolling of A-list TV actors not giving long statements and elaborate reactions to the Indo-Pak situation. Many actors have been criticised as people feel that they should have taken sides and spoken more strongly on the war-like situation in the country.

“I am making this video in support of those actors who are blamed for keeping quiet during war-like situation. When we had the Pahalgam attack, people were shocked and only some small TV artists played the blame game, questioning why big actors are quiet. So now will your Instagram caption decide the level of your patriotism? If a big actor doesn’t say anything, he is labelled as a traitor, if he talks, it is said that he is following a script,” she says.

She adds, “Do you feel that Deepika Padukone will talk about CRPF strategy? This matter would be handled by the government or Ranveer Singh? Tv artists are on their own trip. One is making reels, the other one is blaming and others are going viral. National tragedy has been made into a PR strategy. Ambitabh Bachchan is 80 plus years, if he numbers his tweets wrong, he deletes it and says sorry. So do you want that he should sit with the government and work on border security?”

She says that actors did a very wise thing by keeping quiet and respecting national security issues. “The work of an actor is to entertain, not run a country. If every actor is talking one everything, then what will news anchors do? I want to ask people who are playing the blame game that do you want that celebrities should drive tanks on the next Republic Day parade and politicians salute on the red carpet? When the entire Bollywood was hoping for no-war, some people wanted that A-listers should give angry statements, spread hatred, TRPs go up and trolls have something to do. By the way, it was a right choice for them to keep quiet,” she says.
